Kanye West is known for bad mouthing artists, as he did to Taylor Swift as he went on a rant at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards, when Swift won in the Best Female Video category for “You Belong with me,” beating out Beyonce’s “Single Ladies.” Last month, the famously cranky rapper did it again but this time took a shot at the former ‘N Sync star and his new song “Suit & Tie,” which features West’s good friend Jay-Z, during a show in London. “I got love for Hov [Jay-Z],” West told the audience. “But I ain’t ****in’ with that ‘Suit & Tie.’” Justin came right back with a punch when he changed up the lyrics to his hit, Suit and Tie, when he performed it live on Saturday Night Live.
On Saturday night, Justin Timberlake returned to “Saturday Night Live” for his fifth hosting show, bringing an impressive cast of guests to star, including Steve Martin, Tom Hanks, and Candice Bergen. But the moment that all Timberlake fans were buzzing about was one line in Timberlakes performance of his hit single, “Suit & Tie,” with Jay-Z. Rather than performing the song’s original line of “S–t so sick got a hit and picked up a habit,” Timberlake sang “My hit’s so sick got rappers acting dramatic,” a move many felt was a response to Kanye West. “Last month, West slammed “Suit & Tie” during a concert in London, telling the audience, “I got love for Hov, but I ain’t f–kin’ with that ‘Suit & Tie.'” Given West’s tight relationship with Jay-Z, who Timberlake is touring with this summer, it came as somewhat of a surprise when Justin took a shot at Kanye over the weekend during his “SNL” performance of the attire-themed single.” (http://www.huffingtonpost.com)
Timberlake talked about the lyric change on Monday’s “Late Night” with Jimmy Fallon. In the video shown on Huffington Post’s article, Fallon asks Timberlake, “For ‘Saturday Night Live,’ it felt like to me you changed one of the lyrics in ‘Suit & Tie.'” “Did it seem that way?” Timberlake asked, in a bit of a sarcastic tone of disbelief. “I don’t remember that… Did I change a line? It is live. You know, really, everyone, keep calm.” To which Fallon responded, “Keep calm, and Kanye on.” Fallon’s mention of Kanye prompted Timberlake to address the rapper, telling the audience, “Let me just say, for the record, I absolutely love Kanye. So there’s that.”
